Dr Marie-Thérèse Purvis, representing Seychelles, aged 70, has been one of the country’s leading campaigners for human rights and equality over the past two decades.
She has worked with the ‘UN Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women’ introducing safeguarding changes for women experiencing domestic violence and lobbied to change dress code standards for girls and women in education. More recently, she has become a member of the ‘Seychelles Truth National Reconciliation and National Unity Commission’.
