Lockdown Garden DJ
1430. Joe Hunt
Joe Hunt, from Walsall, has used his professional DJ skills to bring dance music to tens of thousands of viewers raising money for NHS Charities, Cancer Research and other good causes.
Joe began live-streaming DJ sets from his garden, where his decks are sent up in a tent, at the start of lockdown to keep people staying at home entertained and upbeat, and has kept his Sunday afternoon sessions going after receiving a huge response from viewers across the country who regularly tune in. He has also released a charity single in support of NHS Charities.
In a personal letter to Joe, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
“I wanted to write to say a big thank you for the imaginative way in which you have recreated the spirit of summer festivals through your back garden DJ sets.
“Everyone who is missing live music need only watch your Sunday summer sessions to feel the vibes of Ibiza from afar!
“Your tunes are lifting the spirits of the nation, while raising money for our wonderful NHS charities and other great causes.
“So I am delighted to recognise your service to others by naming you as the UK’s 1430th Point of Light.”
Joe said:
“Thank you so much, I am truly overwhelmed and excited to receive this award, this means so much to me.”
